    The Learning and Development Programmes are developed to address the learning needs of employees. Annual analysis on training needs is conducted by the Company to ensure that employees at all levels are given the opportunity to further develop and enhance their skills.

    Executive Development Programme

    HSH is committed to developing an internal pipeline of future leaders. A bespoke Executive Development Programme for senior executives focuses on Company-wide future leader development. Our senior management are extensively involved in the development of our next generation leaders. Customised development plans are created for each of the participants and one-on-one developmental coaching is provided by our top management.

    Consortium Executive Development Programme

    Investment in our people also takes the form of sponsoring selected participants to Executive Development Programmes operated by a reputable higher education institution. Our employees can look forward to joining and networking with participants from a consortium of companies to enhance their organisational leadership and strategic management skills through case method learning.

    Group Leadership Programme

    High potential managers can look forward to the Annual Group Leadership Programme. This three-day intensive programme is organised at one of our global locations where a reputable business school facilitator will help our employees gain a high degree of self-awareness around their leadership capabilities and the resultant impact on the business.

    Online Programme

    Inhouse and external online programmes are available for all employees and cover areas on strategy, leadership, management development, human resources, financial management, project leadership and hospitality management.

    Foundations of Management Programme

    The Foundations of Management programme is a series of four training modules which will boost the Manager’s effectiveness and transform the team’s performance.

    Overseas Cross Exposure Programme

    The Company places great emphasis on the Cross Exposure Programme. This programme is designed for high potential employees and provide them with the ability to learn best practices from selected operations worldwide. The programme broadens the employee’s skill set by experiencing new work environment, operation, people and culture.

    Steps for Supervision

    This programme has been designed to provide supervisors with the building blocks to success. Each workshop provides staff with the essential information needed to effectively supervise and lead a team of individuals. The key to being an effective supervisor is the application of this theory to practice by combining all elements of the workshops into the supervisory role.

    Code of Conduct Online Programme

    This bespoke online Code of Conduct programme ensures all managers in the Company understand and comply with the HSH Code of Conduct. The programme consists of two modules covering the Code of Conduct and Equal Opportunities.

    Creating Service Programme

    The Creating Service Programme provides the tools necessary to provide the ultimate service experience for our guests. Participants learn about our Company values and expectations, our service and customers, effective communication, handling guest complaints, creating extraordinary service experiences as well as understanding the Company brand.

    The Corporate Management Trainee Programme is designed for Asia and the United States. In Asia, successful candidates selected for the programme undergo 15 months of training in Asia at a host operation and will be assigned for a three month programme at a different selected operation. In the United States, the management trainees undergo a 12 month training at the host operation, followed by a six month assignment at another operation. The goals are for the trainees to become Assistant Managers and future internationally mobile managers, in preparation for future hotel openings.

    The Company sponsors students from different locations in the United States, Asia and Europe.

    Scholars will complete their summer internships in a Peninsula hotel. An offer of employment will be made by the host hotel upon the scholar’s successful graduation from school.

    The Peninsula Ambassador programme is for career focused individuals seeking a long term work opportunity to build their hospitality career with new Peninsula hotels at a supervisory and Assistant Manager level. High potential individuals are selected, usually a year before the opening of a new hotel. These individuals undergo an intensive training programme at other Peninsula properties.

    Over a period of time, the Ambassadors have the opportunity to learn the Peninsula culture and to gain a greater understanding of the Peninsula standards of service. Upon completion of the programme, the Ambassadors re-join the pre-opening team of the hotel to infuse the Peninsula quality standards and service with the rest of the staff.
