Our key focus is to develop retention strategies for our people and to ensure they are given adequate career progression opportunities and development plans. We invested HK$25 million on learning and development programmes across the group, including 170 cross exposure programmes. We take the opportunity to send employees to our other Group properties to learn best practices and broaden their skillset by experiencing a new work environment, operations, people and culture.

We believe we must provide an unparalleled learning experience for our people to deliver the highest levels of impeccable and intuitive service. We have a learning and development “leadership ladder” which is a leadership skills programme for our employees to develop their skills. An extensive orientation process will be undertaken by each new employee to understand the company’s rich history of hospitality and luxury. This is also accompanied by a bespoke online orientation programme which allows our employees to learn through a series of collection of videos, games and images. An extensive range of Learning and Development programmes (on-property & online) are made available to our employees which supports diversity across cultures, learning needs and interests.

Cross exposure and the art of peninsula hospitality programmes

Some of our exciting learning and development programmes include overseas cross exposure programmes, tailored skillset training on financial acumen, presentation skills and managerial agility. Many of these programmes are held in conjunction with renowned business schools or leadership experts. We are especially proud of our bespoke service-centric programme called The Art of Peninsula Hospitality. Colleagues who demonstrate high potential will be handpicked through the company’s succession management process to undergo a bespoke Executive Development Programme to prepare them as future leaders of HSH. Customised development plans are created for each of the participants and one-on-one developmental coaching is provided by our top management.
